It has been a blessed and wonderful life.
1969 summer after graduation I worked as the tennis assistant at the Tuxedo Club, Tuxedo Park, Tuxedo, NY.
It was wonderful teaching tennis to Pat Summeralls kids,Italian Counts and their children and many wonderful people. Life was good, eating lunch by the pool and working with the #1 ranked court tennis pro in the world. I should have gone on teaching tennis but I had to go to college.
Freshman and sophmore years at San Jose State, CA. I lived with my grandmother till she passed away. I was in the Humanities honors program and San Jose State Accapella Choir. It was the best college choir on the west coast. Again I made a mistake and transfered out of the center of the Silicon Valley to Syracuse University in cold Syracuse N.Y.I went to the Maxwell School of Public Affairs and Citizenship and Majored in Political Science. My family had since moved to the Hill-Stead Museum (www.hillstead.org) , in Farmington, Conn. It was spectular and beautiful. It was one of the finest homes in America. It was full of (2)Monet's Haystacks and Monet's ships leaving the harbor at Antibes. Degas "the tub" and Dega's "Jockeys", paintings by Whistler, Manet, Mary Casset,Thomas Sully, etching by Rembrandt and Durer and much fine furniture. I would highly recommend going to this fine house museum. I achieved an (M.A.) from Trinity College, Hartford, CT at night. I worked many many different jobs.
All through the years I have been buying Art and Antiques at Auction's in N.Y. and Conn. and all over new England. I have since found that many people steal. So I learned the hard way.
From 1984 to 1989 I worked for the U. S. Governemnt, DOD, Army, Air Force and Navy. I have been Singing in Church Choirs for years. I am a born again Christain believer so life has truly changed.
Work life has been interesting. on Sept 27 1989 I Married my Honey Bun, Melba, an ex-airline hostess, Phd, Stockbroker. In 1988 our daughter Vanessa Jean Talbot was born in Stamford Ct. She is the apple of daddys eye, and my pride and joy. So I joined the brokerage industry with my wife. Thomson-McKinnon 1 Yr. then Painewebber Inc.in Fairfield/Westport, Conn. for 10 yrs. it was a wonderful Company and we were trained very well. It was a very good life. We have been consultants to the Institutes and Proviences of the Catholic Church. We had assets under management of 130 million dollars at our peak. Then we changed to First Union Securities , Cary North Carollina Where we were boith Senior Vice Presidents. Here it was Profit formula for the bank.
2000 to present we are the Talbot Investment Group, (lpl) Linco Private Ledger, the Largest independent broker in the country, www.lpl.com/melba.talbot We have been blessed by God and now live in Paradise in Sarasota, FL . We have 9 income properties with 15 rental units and our old canal front house on Siesta Key is at www.vrbo.com/29344.
